Join Together for a Stronger Voice
Uniting Child Care Providers to Raise Standards for their Profession
Early Educators Lizavetta Galindo and Dorothelia Barnett with the Children they Care for at the State Capitol in November
After years of low reimbursement rates, a lack of heathcare options, and no say in Connecticut child care regulations and licensing, early education professionals across the state are standing together to make our voices heard.
We have united to build the strength we need to raise professional standards and help stabilize the provider workforce. This is about making sure the kids we educate get the consistent care and early development they need to be successful students.
In December, 2011 providers across Connecticut overwhelmingly said YES for a voice in making improvements to the state's child care system. In a secret-ballot mail-in election, 95% of those casting votes chose to join with other home-based early educators in CSEA - SEIU.
Now that we have our Union, we're ready to work with the State of Connecticut to raise the quality of care, stabilize our profession, and serve even more working families.
